Research Paper

Protection of Sea Turtle

Nowadays, many wild animals are in trouble because of human activities and environmental problems, so some species or groups of animals have only a few members left. You might have seen endangered species and environmental problems. Many kinds of animals and plants are in danger of becoming extinct, and they may disappear from the earth forever; especially, one of the most endangered species in the world is the sea turtle, although sea turtle has lived in the same way for millions of years. In US Fed News (2006), “sea turtles have survived in the world’s oceans for millions of years; however, all of the five species that occur in North Carolina waters are currently either threatened or endangered” (par. 1). This situation is a great issue on the earth. In Velasquez (2007), “Every three days, researchers from the Caribbean Conservation Corporation walk the beaches here counting sea turtle nests. Four species nest in its black sands- leatherback, green, loggerhead, and hawksbill- each at a different time of year, at a different area on the beach, and at a different depth in the sand. The researchers record whether the female laid eggs or just poled around and, unsatisfied, returned to the sea. And they note if humans, the greatest threat to these ancient mariners, have dug up any eggs” (para. 1). Many kinds of sea turtles are caught and eaten by seabirds and crabs, and even as food for humans. Sea turtles lives’ lives are endangered as the world advances in civilization, and even humans’ lives and various species are threatened by environmental problems. Human have to prevent the extinction of the sea turtles and environment. In fact, I suggest three solutions for protecting sea turtles, which are reduction of environmental problems and human activities, an end to catching and trading sea turtles for food, and foundation of a reservation for sea turtles.

First of all, humans have to reduce environmental problems and human activities for endangered sea turtles. Nowadays, many kinds of countries have increased industrial development and economic growth; on the other hand, they also have increased destruction of environment and extinction of species. Especially, rising sea levels by global warming and land development are threatening endangered sea turtles. According to Greenhalgh’s article (2002), sea turtles lose their breeding places because rising sea levels are eating up many kinds of sandy beaches. Also, many kinds of sea turtles lose their lives and population from climate change. In Science Daily (2007), “Research published this week in the journal Global Change Biology analyses 26 years of loggerhead turtle nesting and climate data and compares the findings with models for future temperatures. The study shows just how vulnerable marine turtle populations are to changes in temperature. The sex of marine turtle hatchlings is determined by the temperature of eggs during incubation, with warmer temperatures producing females and cooler conditions producing males. Temperatures during nesting also need to be at the right level for eggs to develop healthily and hatch successfully” (para. 1). Many kinds of countries try to develop new kinds of beaches and coast towns. For example, Korea developed many kinds of resorts on the coasts and many kinds of tourists and people in Korea went to the beach, so some of areas have had destruction of nature and extinction of species. In Carrell (2004), “To make matters worse, an island’s turtles rarely breed with another island’s turtles. Females return to the beach they were born on to breed. However, many beaches, mangrove swamps and sea grass beds- all essential habits for nesting and for feeding- are being lost to tourism developments such as marinas” (para. 10). Therefore, humans should build up a limited development district and make restoration of the environment and sea turtles.

Next, humans should stop to catch or trade sea turtles for food. Many kinds of countries do not have enough conservation laws about endangered species, so even now some people illegally try to catch or trade sea turtles for food. According to Dewar (2006), poachers and tourists threaten the sea turtle’s breeding places and turtles in the Caribbean are used for food. In Reuters (2007), “Traffic said overexploitation was a threat to the survival of the region’s turtles, targeted for their shells, meat and eggs that are laid on beaches. All six species in the region are classified as endangered or critically endangered. ‘In Guatemala, virtually every turtle egg laid is collected for human consumption,’ Traffic said. By contrast, in Costa Rica, most eggs in trade were from a well-managed programme operated at Ostional on the Pacific coast” (para. 5). Some countries try to sell their sea turtles to tourists because sea turtles are one of special species, so sea turtles are rapidly endangered. Therefore, humans have to stop catching or trading endangered sea turtles for commercial purposes.

Finally, people should make a reservation for sea turtles. Mankind and all species are the owners of the earth, because all of the species on the earth have the vital power of life, and sea turtle is also one of the species. So, humans should try to make conservation areas for endangered sea turtles. And people should try to study endangered sea turtles and environmental problems. If people can make urbanization and development, people have to design it for protection of the natural world and preservation of sea turtles. For example, many kinds of countries have developed new bathing resorts, developed artificial natural parks, and developed land for the purpose of commercial profits. Many countries tried to make land development for long time. In US Fed News (2006), “The signs, which warn people not to enter a limited area of the beach, are strategically posted on the north, south and front approaches to the turtles’ habitat. PMRF and Navy Region Hawaii environmental program leaders, who are constantly working to safeguard the environment, worked with Naval Facilities Engineering Command Pacific (NAVFCPAC) to design and manufacture the signs” (para. 2). One of the best ways to protect sea turtles is to sustain and protect the earth’s ecosystems that serve as habitats. Many people try to make many kinds of wildlife conservation parks for living sea turtles and they also have to set restricted areas for marine life. Therefore, humans have to divide equally between natural development and natural preservation.

Some kinds of people or some less developed countries don’t care about endangered sea turtles or environmental problems, because they want to make economic growth and they believe that that the industrial development should take priority over the preservation of nature. However, I disagree with that position, because destruction of nature and extinction of the species produce bad results for the human race and for the earth. For example, Chinese officials often put economic growth ahead of environmental protection, and the country in recent years has suffered from increasing pollution and endangered species due to industrial growth, so they try to make their effort to protect endangered species and environment; for example, animals that are near extinction are often protected in natural preserves or zoos. Therefore, people have to protect environment and endangered species for human beings.

In conclusion, sea turtles have lived in the same way for millions of years, and are one of the meek animals, but sea turtles are threatened by human activities and environmental pollution. Serious environmental problems are now threatening the various lives of species. Therefore, people should prevent the extinction of the sea turtle and people should also try to have a new angle on the problems of protection and coexistence. I also suggest to people three solutions, reduction of environmental problems and human activities, an end to catching and trading sea turtles for food, and establishment of reservations for sea turtles.

Problems of New Internet Words

In Guess (2007), “In at least one central respect, proponents of technology in the classroom are on to something. Most students (60.9 percent) believe (the use of technology) improves their learning” (para. 2). Have you ever seen the internet words? You might have seen them on the chat. Nowadays, a lot of people in the world use the computer with the Internet. As we know, language is one of the important factors for human beings. It is that there are about eight thousand languages in the world. As civilization advances, people of today try to create new kinds of words because they want to use convenience and practicality. However, many kinds of people believe that it makes some social problems and educational problems. In Weeks (2008), “Professor Ben Yagoda has been teaching English for 16 years. Students, he says, are getting brighter. But their abilities to write clearly have deteriorated appreciably in the past four or five years” (para. 35). Many kinds of students lost their language of their own because of new kinds of the internet words. This phenomenon brings some kinds of social problems like a gap between young generation and old generation, confusion of language because most young people have used the Internet, while very few old people have used it. In fact, we have to reduce use of new kinds of language and learn educational programs about substance of language.

First of all, we should reduce use of new kinds of language from the Internet. Nowadays, many young people use the computer with the Internet. So, they create new kinds of language for a convenience. It is not a problem on the Internet, but they try to use new kinds of language in their daily lives. In Weeks (2008), “Most prose that young people read nowadays, Yagoda says, is unedited- blogs, text messages and instant messages. Consequently, ‘the things that suffer most are spelling and punctuation. They put a comma, not a period, where there is a pause’” (para. 36). Because of them, many kinds of young people have a trouble with the old generation. In school, they made some kinds of mistakes like grammar problems and vocabulary problems. Therefore, we should try to reduce use of new kinds of the Internet words.

Finally, we should provide educational programs about substance of language during and after childhood. Many kinds of young people use the Internet, so they learn many kinds of new Internet words, and they use them naturally. In Lee (2002), “Some teachers find the new writing style alarming. ‘First of all, it’s very rude, and it’s very careless,’ said Lois Moran, a middle school English teacher at St. Nicholas School in Jersey City. ‘They should be careful to write properly and not to put these little codes in that they are in such a habit of writing to each other,’ said Ms. Moran, who has lectured her eight-grade class on such mistakes” (paras. 37-38). Therefore, we should make educational programs with educational facilities about substance of language, and we have to learn and study them.

In conclusion, nowadays, most people use the Internet on computer and they often enjoy various things on the Internet. So, they make some kinds of social problems and language problems. Therefore, people should reduce use of new internet words and people also should learn and study about substance of language.

Summary response #2

The Importance of Natural Beauty

In Dewar’s article (2006), “Treasure hunting in Tobago”, the author explains the fact that the Caribbean island has one of the world’s oldest natural rainforests and that place has many kinds of flora and fauna. The author tells that various special animals and plants live in rainforests in the Caribbean and people can see the beauty of nature there because the Caribbean rainforests have been well preserved for a long time. Dewar explains the fact that the interesting history of the Caribbean islands and the climatic influence of the Caribbean islands create many kinds of special species. The author discusses the fact that Caribbean Sea makes a great number of rare varieties and people can have an outlook on nature. The author claims that people in the Caribbean can watch the turtles’ lives and habits on Tobago. In the summer season, many kinds of turtles return to the beaches because they try to hatch to nest. The author explains the fact that turtles are one of the endangered species because poachers and natural enemies threaten the turtle’s breeding places and turtles in Caribbean are used for food. Finally, the author claims that people should try to preserve endangered species and rainforests.

I agree with the position that people can see the natural beauty, and various animals and plants in Caribbean with environmental conservation, and that people threaten turtles’ lives. Human beings should protect endangered species in the whole world.

First of all, people have to make a prohibitional law for using the species as food. We have a lot of resources and make new kinds of food products. For example, some people in Korea want to eat special animals’ food for their health, so they try to have a hunt for endangered otters. However, we will never see or eat special animals if we don’t have lovely otters.

Next, people should not make land development, so that we can have many kinds of breeding places. We have to protect breeding seasons and breeding places. For example, Korea has created land development in various areas, so Korea brought extermination of wild animals. Therefore, we have to make conservation of endangered species.

Finally, people should know the importance of an ecosystem. As the world advances in civilization, we make many kinds of pollution and destruction of nature. If people are bent solely upon profit, we cannot keep natural beauty and all kinds of species, even our food for the next generation. People should learn about environmental conservation of environment and endangered species.

In conclusion, nowadays, we have many kinds of environmental problems and make endangered species in the whole world. We should try to learn about serious environment problems and make up some counter plans for them. Therefore, we should also try to have a new angle on the problems about protection and coexistence. We should know that humans couldn’t live in the world without environment and all species.

Coexistence Between Humans and Species

In BBC’s article (2007), “Caribbean opposes expansion of International Whaling Commission’s role”, the author tells that Caribbean officials try to protect their marine animals with the International Whaling Commission. In the Caribbean Sea, many kinds of species’ safety is jeopardized, especially, small cetaceans are endangered. The author explains the fact that many kinds of environmental investigation committees try to study many kinds of research materials about habits of marine animals and environmental preservation. The author discusses the fact that all the countries of the world are participated in the protection. The author claims that people have to protect marine resources for the human race.

I agree with the position that many kinds of marine animals are endangered because of human activities and environmental problems. The extinction of cetaceans or turtles gives people imbalance of an ecosystem. Imbalance of an ecosystem brings about a scarcity of food. People have to protect the environment and wildlife.

First of all, we have to make new kinds of animal pursuit planes. A great number of species in the earth live together with humans. However, human have made a high level of civilization and environmental development for the human race. So, we created many kinds of problems about endangered species, environmental problems. Nowadays, people must protect endangered species from environmental problems because people took many kinds of species’ lives and their habitats. The high-tech pursuit planes with news-gathering facilities defended endangered species from various dangers. It also gives endangered species preservation of the species. In conclusion, people should create new kinds of technological development for endangered species.

Next, we should make a sanctuary for wild animals in the sea, like a reservation for wild animals in the land. A vast expanse of waters actually cannot have a line of demarcation. However, most countries want to draw a line of demarcation between country and country, even in a boundless ocean. So, we made many serious environmental problems in all the countries of the world. People have to enforce many kinds of eco-businesses and laws of environmental conservation. A law of environmental conservation and a sanctuary for wild animals can bring about the protecting environment and endangered species.

Finally, we have to reduce industrial pollution and destruction of nature. As the world advances in civilization, we created many kinds of serious environmental pollution and indiscriminate killing and wounding many kinds of species. So, we should try to clean industries and make a large limited development district. In fact, we should stop environmental development of undeveloped areas, because most species need natural places and to like their lives without human activities. We also should create practical environmental improvement systems about environmental pollution.

In conclusion, nowadays, all the countries of the world have worried about many kinds of environmental problems and endangered species. For the next generation, some people of today always try to form protection plans about endangered species and environment. As a matter of great account, people should realize that the extinction of species will give the human race a food shortage and bring the fall of the earth.

Endangered Coral Reef

In Loft’s article (2008), “Coral Crisis: Global warming, trawling, pollutants threaten the world’s coral population”, the author tells what coral reef’s habits are, why coral reefs are endangered, and how to protect endangered coral reefs. The author discusses the fact that global warming and contaminants make ecosystem destruction and endanger species in the ocean. The author says that people should do to environmental management and environmental conservation for coral systems. The author also explains the fact that rising ocean temperatures exterminate marine lives. However, the author discusses the fact that some scientists don’t care about influences of rising ocean temperatures because they believe that sea-surface temperatures have a “thermostat”. The author claims that people have to look after the coral systems because coral reefs are very sensitive to various environmental impacts. Finally, Loft claims that people try to protect coral systems and they also have to learn knowledge about coral reefs and environmental issues.

I agree with the position that global warming threatens many kinds of sea lives. The extinction of coral reefs and serious changes in environment are now threatening the marine lives. Nowadays, environmental problems haven’t come to a satisfactory solution, but a great number of people are trying to find the best solution because people must try to live together with many kinds of species.

First of all, we should reduce many kinds of pollutants in the ocean. The wastewater and the various detergents have become the cause of endangered species. For example, the seawater at the bathing resorts is polluted with sewage and the outflow of oil brings an awful pollution. Environmental destruction in the ocean that is caused by various contaminants produces ecosystem destruction and endangered species. People have to make pollution control and decontamination.

Finally, we have to reduce indiscreet submarine development. At present, people try to harvest submarine resources develop the sea bottom because the ocean has a great number of mineral resources at the sea bottom. We have also tried to make oil exploration and a submarine cable, even an undersea tunnel, so we gave marine lives many kinds of environmental problems. We have to think about environmental protection when we make development works in the ocean.

In conclusion, pollutants and indiscreet ocean development start environmental contamination and endangered species in ocean. People should do their duty with regard to the protection of the environment and endangered species care because people destroyed the environment. Therefore, humans should learn about environmental issues and endangered species. Humans also should try to make the environmental protection countermeasure.

Land Reform for Human Race

In “Day Arrives for Land Reform”, Knox (2003) writes “The day of the landlord is past” (para. 1). People live on the earth for long time and the quality of life made steady progress. On the other hand, people have various problems of life. The world of today has several issues, especially, a food shortage from increase in population and efficient land use are matters of the great concern. Also, small farmers are rapidly disappearing and poor countries are getting hungrier and a lot of extensive communal farms lie fallow. All the countries of the world try to make new countermeasures because of aggravation of the food situation that does not keep up with the increase of the population. So, many kinds of countries try to enforce land reform for mankind. Therefore effective land reform can be a solution for the food shortage problems by increasing productivity of the land, which can contribute to economic growth and price stabilization.

According to Miller (1994), Environment: Problems and Solutions, land reform refers to a change in the system of land ownership, especially when it involves giving land to the people who actually farm it, and taking it away from people who own large areas for profit (p. 46). People of today show interest in land conservation and land improvement. For example, the Russian attachment to land is so deep and visceral that efforts to sell off decaying collective farms unsettle. Many of the huge communal farms laid fallow, bankrupt remnants of a corrupt and clumsy system that was brutally engineered by communism over 70 years ago. Now government in Russia is pushing new land reform. Without such basic land reform, Russian agriculture will remain mired in its soviet -lethargy. In “Russia’s Bitter Farmers Stay Put”, Mendenhall, Surnin, and Alexandroff (n. d) state, “Meanwhile, migration and land reform experts watch the country closely, quietly analyzing its population movement and rural economies. They hope continued dumb luck- and some well-placed rural economic programs- will keep the rural population from overwhelming urban areas until the Russian economy recovers from post-Soviet depression” (para. 3). These days, land reform gives humans various benefits as increase in urban population and the inequality between the city and the country.

First of all, land reform will enable the increase of the productivity. It means that land reform can create better land adjustment and land improvement. This point is very important because land reform can reduce imprudent urban planning and establish a good development project about undeveloped land. People using land reform have a good supply of food on hand. Venezuela in one of countries using land reform makes a profit of an output. According to Bruce (2005), “Venezuela Land Reform Gets Going”, the government in Venezuela brought to a successful land reform, so people in Venezuela have many kinds of new farmland, and the government is going to help people set up co-operatives and posses of the land (para. 2). Land reform can make various food products. People in Korea can make various kinds of food products. For instance, there is place to produce only rice, but after land reform, people can make diversified farming such as grazing lands and fruit gardens. Land reform will have good effects to a community and human because land reform can increase in productivity effects and make advancement of an agricultural community. Nowadays, a food problem is made from imprudent farmland development and urbanization. Therefore, people have to try to improve use of land for the next generation.

Next, land reform can create economic growth and news kinds of jobs. Governments using land reform offer people various jobs in new kinds of regions and land reform can reduce between the rich and the poor because it induces regional development. Many people believe that land reform can make to new building estate and economic growth. For example, Mexico has made the recovery trend of the Mexico economy. In “Mexican land reform to unite small farmers and big business”, Caron and John (1994) write “As the land becomes more productive, fewer farm laborers will be required. However, many formers and small farmers will enjoy increased incomes and improved standards of live, and new jobs will be created in food procession” (para. 12). Many countries also try to investigate advantages of land reform. For example, government in Korea tries to disperse the population in cities into the country because many people can find various jobs and make profits because of land reform. Therefore, land reform can make extensive benefits with land development.

Finally, land reform can stabilize the value of land because today everything is becoming the object of speculation. Land reform can benefit people who want to use for farming or other purposes. For example, government in Korea has some state nationalization of lands because of land reform. Land cost in Korea is very expensive because many people try to buy the valuable estates. Therefore, government in Korea rent people the land for their businesses because land cost in Korea is very expensive. The government also can spend less money on its own land reform without lobbies and people can receive a great number of areas under cultivation. Land reform can make various benefits of land use. In “Great Policy, Little Capacity”, Groenewald (2008) writes “The restitution programme- designed to restore land to those deprived of it under past discriminatory laws- would reach its final deadline next month and had to be rounded off” (para. 9). Therefore, land reform is important to stabilize the value of land.

Some people do not agree with land reform. Land reform causes several problems. They say one of problems is that somebody live in the countryside will lose their land. Some people worry about new environmental adaptation and changes of their life without their own land. However, it is nothing to worry about because many countries using land reform have various restitution programs. Cornelia says “If we were given this land by the government… we would work hard to succeed” (2004, August 8, para. 6). People of today have to make changes of life. The world has undergone some major changes during the past several years. For example, farmers in Korea use various agricultural motor tractors to their farmland and they also apply various agricultural methods to their land. Korean government using land reform has continued their study for human. Therefore, people have to meet the needs of the times for a big profit.

In conclusion, these days, land reform is one of solutions about various problems of estate, especially; land reform gives people that productivity effects and land development, economic growth and news kinds of jobs, and stabilizes the value of land. Therefore, human beings should use an effective land reform for mankind. Governments using land reform should be made a constant effort its investigation for human happiness.

Research Paper

Protection of Sea turtle

Have you ever seen many kinds of sea turtle? You might have seen them in the various mass media. We also learned about the influence of environmental problems in educational programs, so I was interested in endangered species. As we know, pollution of various kinds gives rise to destruction of nature and demolition of an ecosystem; especially, pollution of various kinds makes an increase in the number of endangered species. Sea turtles are threatened as one of endangered species by human activities and climate changes. According to US Fed News (2006), “Sea turtles have survived in the world’s oceans for millions of years. However, all of the five species that occur in North Carolina waters are currently either threatened or endangered” (par. 1). According to Greenhalgh’s article (2002), sea turtles lose their breeding place because of rising sea levels, so their lives are threatened by global warming, and many kinds of sea turtles are killed by a single disease, and they will die with a bitter experience. The sea turtles’ extinction is an issue to me because sea turtle is an animal of high rank in my country and the meaning of the sea turtle is eternal life in my country. Also another issue is that sea turtles are closely related with humans, because they are very responsive to the influence of environment and climate changes. Many species’ lives are endangered as the world advances in civilization, so today mankind and species have environmental problems. Humans have to prevent the extinction of the sea turtle. In fact, I would like to talk about three solutions- three solutions are the knowledge of endangered sea turtles, creating cleaner fuels and stopping land development work, and making a reservation for sea turtles.

First of all, humans have to learn about the endangered sea turtle. Sea turtle is a good example of an endangered species. According to Wright’s article (2006), “Sea turtles are found in warm, temperate seas around the world. Adults spend most of their time in shallow coastal waters, bays, lagoons and estuaries, although they can venture out to sea. Sea turtles eat different foods, depending on the species. Adult Green sea turtles eat a vegetarian diet of sea grasses and algae. Loggerheads and Olive Ridleys eat mollusks, crabs, shrimps, jellyfish and vegetation” (par. 4). Nowadays, many kinds of countries have increased industrial development and technological development. They also have increased destruction of environment and extinction of ecosystems. According to Wright’s article (2006), “Many sea turtle nesting beaches are under threat from human activities such as sand mining, development and driving trucks on the beaches. Garbage on the beach can disturb the female sea turtle as she tries to crawl up onto the beach, cause her to turn around and go back to the water without laying her eggs. Garbage can also impede the hatchlings from reaching the water, and turtles can also die from ingesting garbage” (par. 11). Power station uses seawater to cool down the power equipment heat in order to keep the station working well, and then the power station release the high temperature directly into the sea. In addition, the number of species is decreasing.Especially, global warming and destruction of environment are threatening endangered sea turtle. According to Greenhalgh’s article (2002), many kinds of sea turtles lose their breeding place because one effect of global warming is a rise in sea levels. The author suggests that people have to study sea turtle preservation. Therefore, for the human race, people should be concerned about protection of sea turtle, and people have to study information about the sea turtles.

Next, people have to decrease resource use and stop land development work. Many countries are draining themselves of its resources and they are persevering in their efforts to do land development work for the quality of their lives. So, humans and species have serious pollution on earth. For example, the air in cities has been heavily polluted by vehicle emissions and reckless deforestation; the water in the world is polluted with sewage and factory wastewater. Also, the land in developing countries has been heavily polluted by estate development and reclamation. According to US Fed News’ article (2006), “Respect enclosures. All known sea turtle nest sites are posted for their protection. As hatching dates approach, closures must be enlarged to safeguard the young. Beachgoers should respect these signed areas at all times. Areas are reopened after hatching is completed” (par. 3). According to Fish and Wildlife Research Institute’s article (n.d), light pollution is caused by the millions of electrical lights humans turn on every night, so naturally dark skies are brightened around the world by light. This article explains one kind of pollution problems. Today, numbers of sea turtles are decreasing from amounts of environmental problems. Seacoast towns have to reduce their artificial light and people should not be putting waste dirt on the beach in seaside. Therefore, humans have to use the natural resources and build only on limited development districts.

Finally, people should make a reservation for sea turtles. Humans and all species are the owners of the earth, because all of the species on earth have the vital power of life, and sea turtle is also one of the species. People should learn about the ways of protecting sea turtle. If people can make urbanization and development, people have to design for protection of the natural world and preservation of sea turtles. For instance, many kinds of countries have developed new bathing resorts, developed artificial natural parks, and developed land for the purpose of commercial profits. According to US Fed News’ article (2006), “The signs, which warn people not to enter a limited area of the beach, are strategically posted on the north, south and front approaches to the turtles’ habitat. PMRF and Navy Region Hawai’I environmental program leaders, who are constantly working to safeguard the environment, worked with Naval Facilities Engineering Command Pacific (NAVFACPAC) to design and manufacture the signs” (par. 2). I think that the best way to protect sea turtles is to sustain and protect the earth’s ecosystems that serve as habitats. People make many kinds of wildlife conservation parks for living sea turtles and they also have to set restricted areas for wildlife like a greenbelt. Therefore, people should divide equally between natural development and natural preservation.

In conclusion, I think that sea turtle is an animal of great tenacity, so it is a good protecting model for the future’s human race. Global warming threatens many kinds of sea turtles. The extinction of sea turtles and serious environmental problems are now threatening the various lives of species. People should prevent the extinction of the sea turtles. Therefore, three of solutions are increasing knowledge of endangered sea turtles, creating cleaner fuels and stopping land development work, and making a reservation for sea turtles.
